The heart shaped diamond possesses 59 facets, and is considered a fancy modified brilliant diamond for it's similar faceting to the round brilliant while retaining a unique shape.
For the romantic at heart, or someone who wants a unique, fun shape, heart shapes may be for you.

Emerald cut diamonds possess a classic, clean look that was extremely sought after during the art deco period from 1925 to the 1940's. Its simple step cut faceting can be unforgiving to diamonds less than SI1 in clarity, as its fewer facets toward the center of the diamond can show large inclusions.
For an uncluttered, simple and timeless shape, Emerald cut is an excellent choice.

The asscher cut was originally cut in 1902 by Joseph Asscher, who patented the unique cut and named it after his family. It's recent resurgence in popularity has seen many more rough diamonds being cut into Asscher style diamonds. It's step cut, or 'scissor' cut facets also require a high color and clarity diamond like it's cousin the emerald cut.
For a truly unique and antique looking ring, an Asscher cut diamond would fit perfectly.

Originally invented in 1977 by
Henry Grossbard,
the mixed cut faceting featured on a Radiant cut diamond combines the step cut design of an emerald cut with the sparkle of a brilliant cut. Radiant cut diamonds can be cut rectangular, shaped like an emerald cut, or more square, mirroring an Asscher cut. However, the radiant cut most resembles the Princess Cut diamond, it's most unique attribute being it's blocked corners.
For fantastic sparkle with a modern square shape, Radiant cut is an excellent choice.

Originally cut in the early 1960's by Lazare Kaplan, the Oval Diamond is a classic shape with a classic 58 facets. It's similarity to round brilliant is obvious, but its sparkle is quite different, being that the facets being stretched out usually leads to a "bow tie" effect in the center. An oval can fit quite beautifully in most mountings
made for a round brilliant with only a larger 6 prong basket.
For exemplary sparkle that can take on modern or classic settings, try on an Oval Shaped Diamond.
